[rp] You've Been The Only Thing That's Right
As usual, the arrival of one (1) spirit detective, Urameshi Yuusuke, is announced by nothing but the sound of the doors opening, and his voice, which today is almost overly cheerful, which generally means the mazoku is A) up to no good, or B) just got into a fight he found satisfying (or C), both.)
"Hey babe."
He comes close with a usual disregard for whatever his lover may be doing, and he leans in, peering at the paperwork in front of the prince with only enough interest to garner disdain. "Looks boring as usual." Yuusuke leans in more, making a kissy face that just looks like his best impression of a fish face for when Koenma lifts his head.

Yuusuke opens the box and puts it on top of the paper the prince is currently stamping. "A present," he declares. It's a simple little ring, gold and well-crafted it looks.
no subject
Bad move, Yuusuke. Koenma pulls the paper up shortly after the box has been settled down, halting for a spare second in his motion to the other pile before he realizes he's flipped the box. He sighs, as if put out by having to stop, but reaches to right the toppled box and stare, for a short moment.
"A ring? Are you proposing to me?"
no subject
spankget Koenma in trouble?)."What if I was?" he asked, a little grin on his face suggesting he's still thinking, and the thoughts have taken a dangerous turn.
no subject
"If you hadn't then why are you presenting me with a gold ring? You are aware you're not even doing it according to human convention, if that's what you're up to?" Not that he would trust Yuusuke to stick to what was expected of him or even.. you know, remotely usual. After all, he'd proposed to Keiko in order to keep her from being mad at him how many times, now? Still, he looks dubiously at his partner, unsure of how he felt about this, if he's at all honest with himself. (Either way, he still had people he had to answer to until he took his father's post, thank you!)
"I don't like that look on your face. That's a plotting look."
Wait, you asked a question, Yuusuke?
no subject
"What if I was proposing to you?" he echoes his question stubbornly. The gleam in his eye is a familiarly stubborn one, and the little grin that follows isn't joking so much as excited with the prospect of the answer he might get. He leans in just a little more as if to prompt a response.
no subject
"... I'd wonder what the hell you were drinking or smoking before you got here, firstly." And then, a little less terse and joking. "And I'd wonder what the hell brought that on."
After all, it wasn't every day that someone proposed to a demi-god, now was it? He wasn't even sure if a proper wedding was required.. considering... well it's awkward to basically marry God, okay?
no subject
Yuusuke grins. "It's just somethin' for you to think of me by when I'm off on your missions or at a tournament or somethin'."
no subject
Koenma frowns as he sees those, hating the habit of smoking that the teenager keeps up, but he doesn't really have room to tell him to knock it off. It wasn't like cigarettes could really affect a demon, after all. "Well, that's what I was thinking of. I can't officiate my own ceremonies." That would be... sufficiently strange to suit Koenma, but still....
"You do realize that I'm usually with you at tournaments and watching your missions, right?" So they're never truly apart.
no subject
There's a faint and strange smile that comes across Yuusuke's face at Koenma's comments. "Yeah," he says, considerably quieter than before. And while there's no discernible change in his mood, something is definitely different. Just for that moment.
"I just thought it'd be nice. You can throw it out if you don't like it." This isn't really going as planned, but the only affect it's having on Yuusuke seems to be an increasing craving for one of the cigarettes in his pocket.
no subject
Ah, it looks like he might have pushed his sarcasm a little far, hm? He seems to understand, at times, when that quietness means that he's done something wrong, pushed too far. So he's quiet for a moment as Yuusuke tells him he can throw it out, looking over the gold band once more..
And then he pulls it out of the box, slipping it on to his finger and seeing how it looks. "You chose the right size... is this the right finger?"
no subject
He stands up straight, hands in his pockets. "I'll let you get back to work." He offers a little grin, making a motion somewhere between saluting and tipping an invisible hat. He turns for the door, then an afterthought stops him.
"That mission next week - you sure you wanna go? Kurama and Hiei and I can handle it..."
no subject
"So it fits accidentally?" Gee, Yuusuke, way to make it seem like you were on the fly, here. Still, he looks at the ring on his finger for a moment longer, admiring the simple gold band on a finger that was all important for humans and wondering if he'd made the right decision, here, to make that connection so tangible.
"Yes I'm sure, Yuusuke." And then, after a moment... "Where are you going?"
no subject
He laces his fingers behind his head. "I thought I'd go catch up on my training." (When is he not training in his free time that he'd need to catch up?)
no subject
"You train all the time." He states flatly, watching Yuusuke with a slight suspicion about him. Why are you so eager to flitter off and away from him now that he's wearing that ring, Yuusuke Urameshi? He gestures to a seat next to him, off handedly.
"Come sit down. As long as you aren't distracting I won't have to kick you out."
no subject
"I wouldn't be as good as your spirit detective if I didn't," he rationalizes. "Then what use would you have for me?"
no subject
He... might just feel a little bad for how dismissive he'd been earlier, and a little more fond of the teenager after the whole ring giving situation. It was hard to tell Yuusuke no, a good majority of the time, anyway. Especially after he'd been sweet enough to pretty much give him a wedding ring, right?
He gets back to his stamping and signing, turning to look at Yuusuke briefly as he asks the question. "Well you could just be a bed cushion, for me. There when I want you and all.."
Oh haha Koenma, very funny.
no subject
attemptedjoke. It took a special sense of humor to understand Koenma's, and Yuusuke had it. Maybe he had learned it or maybe he was just a fan of silly humor (both, probably). "That might agitate your case of stick-up-ass that occasionally flares, though."Oh is that him moving the seat back just out of swatting reach? Yeah, it is.
no subject
"I'm not talking to sleep on." More like with, but he's sure that Yuusuke at least catches his drift without him actually coming out and saying it. They both had strangely off the wall sense of humor, and while Yuusuke's was more silly than Koenma's, they at least bounced off of one another well. Well, sometimes, when Koenma was in the mood for it.
"Shut up." He swings his stamp back, hoping to tag Yuusuke. Though, when he misses he flicks a glance over his shoulder, glaring at him. "See if I let you anywhere near my ass if you keep talking like that."
no subject
Yuusuke leans on his folded arms again, and settles in once more to watch his lover work. It's hard for the fighter to keep still, so it's only a few minutes before he asks, "Did you wanna do somethin' when your done, or...?"
no subject
"You're full of it." He comments boredly over his shoulder, stamping the next few papers rather quickly. Once he gets in to a rhythm this all becomes a lot easier. Not any more entertaining but at least there's a rhythm to getting finished and getting the hell out of here to do something more interesting.
"What were you thinking of..?" He doesn't turn away from his work, but Yuusuke is probably used to that, the Prince speaking to him but not looking so that he can get his work finished faster.
no subject
"I dunno. Just thought I'd come up here and give you that. I didn't have anything else in mind." He thinks to suggest some sort of lewd activity, then thinks better of it, given Koenma's mood when he arrived.
no subject
"You were really just going to ditch a ring on my desk and then go and do whatever?" He gives him an almost disbelieving look but.. then again, this was Yuusuke. He didn't know why he'd even thought to expect anything else.
"I don't know why I was even surprised."
no subject
"You got much more to do?" He peers at the 'in' pile.
no subject
"So operations as usual." He sighs, shaking his head. He didn't know what he had expected, to be honest, though maybe he'd thought that the teen would have planned this sort-of-proposal a little bit more fully.
He looks at the same high-stacked pile Yuusuke was looking at, and then back to him.
"Are you brain damaged?"
no subject
The teen scratches the back of his head and offers another grin. "Probably." A shrug. "I dunno, sometimes you fly through those piles. Thought I'd ask. But if you're gonna be a while, I'ma smoke one."
no subject
"Do you have to smoke those things? They make your mouth taste strange.." Hey, any excuse to complain about it huh? He couldn't complain on account of his health, considering his demon side but... he could pull off the fact that it didn't make him smell or taste any better than he did when he was fresh from a shower or just... fresh from a battle.
no subject
no subject
"I'm aware it's a human habit. And it makes you smell like a dumpster." And he doesn't like it, damn it! It may give Yuusuke a sort of bad boy appeal - but being a demon and dating a demi-god kind of did that all on its own. But from there he's back to his papers, muttering to himself every now and then about how Yuusuke would like it if he was saddled with all these papers, etc. But at least he's settled back to work.. ?
Which means they'll be done faster.. ?
no subject
Eventually he puts the pack back in his pocket without taking one out, and he settles in once more watching.
...He's not sure how long he can watch this, Koenma.
no subject
"Yes they are." Don't bicker with him, mister. He's not in the mood to put up with it at the moment, trying to blaze through his paperwork. Eventually he finally picks up a good pace, going silent as ogres pass by occasionally to take stacks of papers or share a passing word with the demi-god or his spirit detective sitting near by. They've been clued in, but were also told expressly to not question him about it too often, not wanting to deal with all the cooing and story mongering ogres usually did when they had time for idle chatter.
"Not too long, Yuusuke..."
no subject
At least until, well, every time they were interrupted. It doesn't bother him for the most part, the ogres are interesting enough, if not sometimes overly curious.
no subject
No matter how often Koenma made it very clear that being nosey was a one way ticket to a spanking or something like it, occasionally someone got a little too nosey for their own good. He doesn't know what it is that drives them, but damn is it annoying. He just wants this much privacy - this much to himself when it comes to sharing time with his boyfriend from time to time.
It was bad enough that even being in this relationship, sometimes, caught him hell.
Eventually, though, Koenma sits back with a satisfied sigh, an ogre shuffling by to pick up the finished pile of papers. "Ready to get out of here, Yuusuke?"
no subject
"Whatcha wanna do?"
no subject
Koenma just chuckles, standing and stretching himself, moving to crack his back. "I don't know. Did you have your mind set on anything while you were just sitting there?"
no subject
no subject
"... You may need a few more brain cells to rub together if you spaced out that much, instead of thinking of something to do." Hey, at least he's honest about these things, right? Still, the demi-god lifts his shoulder with a little laugh as Yuusuke nibbles at his ear, giving him a little shove anyway.
"Since you waited I was going to let you decide."
no subject
"You know what I like," Yuusuke answers. Which means he's one 'iunno, whadda you wanna do' from throwing Koenma down and having his heated way with him.
